After nearly 35 years of service to the , Dr. Patrick Shaw will be retiring as Superintendent at the end of October.
"It has been an honor working with the Santee School District," Shaw wrote in his Superintendent's message on the District website.
The announcement of his departure was made during a June board meeting, and the is working with a search firm, The Cosca Group, to recruit and hire a new Superintendent for the School District.
Santee School Boardmember had this to say about the retirement:
The Board, with the aid of Cosca, has put together a timeline of events that includes gathering input from key community stakeholders about the strengths and needs of the District as well as the desired characteristics of our future Superintendent. Based on the results of our (includes employees, community groups, businesses, parents, etc.) we will develop a brochure and advertise the position to qualified candidates, review applications, and conduct interviews sometime after the start of the school year.
The process of gathering stakeholder input is being accomplished through interviews as well as online with a survey/questionnaire. That part of the process is currently in progress.
Dr. Shaw has been a dedicated servant to the Santee community for over 35 years. Through those years, he has supported the School District at almost every level of responsibility; from classroom teacher, Principal, District Administrator, and ultimately as Superintendent of Schools.
We have been blessed and privileged to have worked with him and the legacy he leaves our children and families is one of commitment, excellence, and innovation. The Board greatly appreciates Dr. Shaw and what he's meant to our school community and wishes him and his family the best on the occasion of his retirement.
