Santee Sportsplex Donates $1,410 to Santee School District Foundation

This is the third successful youth recreational soccer season fundraiser.

Submitted by Sportsplex USA

Santee's Sportsplex USA will make a donation to the Santee School District Foundation in the amount of $,1410 on Monday.

Sportsplex USA and the Santee School District Foundation (SSDF) have partnered with the goal of offering affordable recreational youth indoor soccer programs to all parents and children in Santee.  Since the partnership with the SSDF began in January, 2012, $4,510 has been donated to the Foundation after three successful youth recreational soccer seasons.

In December of 2012, Sportsplex USA reached out to the Santee School District Foundation in an effort to create a youth indoor soccer program and develop a fundraising campaign for the Foundation.  In today’s economic climate, fundraising efforts for school foundations are critical and difficult to maintain.

With the support of the foundation and it’s board, Sportsplex USA created a recreational youth soccer program and offered to donate $10 per child registration back to the SSDF.  The youth soccer league is offered three times per year with 8-week seasons beginning in January, March and September.  The first season, 144 children registered for the program making it an instant success. The Spring 2012 season saw an increase to 166 children.

The recreational, coed league is designed for boys and girls age 5-12. The concept of the program is to provide all children equal playing time, regardless of skill. The program is affordable for parents priced at $74 per child before the registration deadline.

This includes an 8-game season with 1-hour games on Saturdays.  Each team is coached by a volunteer and has one 1-hour after-school practice during the week. There are no playoffs and every player receives a league jersey and participation award. Sportsplex USA has committed to make the same donation of $10 per child back to the SSDF for the duration of this program. Their goal is to double registration to 300 players by for the January, 2013 program scheduled to start on January 26, 2013.

I know the redesign will take a bit to get used to, but I really think it will be a better site for community engagement, and easier to use. this is why the battlefield has changed temporarily from the political arena to the Energy Arena.Read More Co Gen Tricks and the usual suspects are making their big money bet on two inevitable facts that will force the hand of the CPUC and CEC to place a new gas power plant somewhere in the area. 1) the Electric Vehicle Mandate. 2) voltage support (power factor) needed by the industrial wind and solar farms in the desert. There is more to what meets the eye with the aggressive push by the usual suspects to cover our open spaces in the East County with these poorly sited RE projects. More wind and solar farms means more gas power plants. There is only one way to fight the destruction of our open spaces, and that is with roof top solar, conservation, energy efficiency and community owned energy districts. The fisrt thing that needs to be done is the City of Santee exempt residential scale PV installs from needing a building permit. Australia, Germany and the State of Vermont do not require a Building Permit to install PV.
