Two Santee Educators Receive GUHSD Teacher of the Year Nominations

Two teachers from Santana and West Hills High Schools are honored by their peers.

teacher Andrea Arrieta and teacher Bill Cleves were amongst ten Teacher of the Year nominees honored by the GUHSD board last week.

The district nominees are selected by their peers, other teachers.

Arrieta is an english instructor, AVID Site Team Leader and BTSA Support Provider at Santana High and Cleves is a chemistry instructor and track and cross country coach at West Hills High.

A panel comprised of previous Teachers of the Year and District personnel selected two representatives from the group of nominees to be considered for the San Diego County Teacher of the Year competition. If selected to represent the County, the next step is the California State Teacher of the Year competition.

Karly is an English Teacher and the Yearbook Advisor at Chaparral Continuation School, where she has been teaching since 2009.  Prior to requesting a transfer to Chaparral, Karly taught at West Hills and Valhalla.

Maxine is an English, ELD and pre-AVID Teacher as well as the EL Coordinator at El Cajon Valley, where she has been teaching since 2003. Inspired by Ghandi’s quote, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world,” Maxine felt compelled to teach EL students in order to make an impact on that population.

Granite Hills High School- Dan Neighbors, Phoenix & English Instructor & Phoenix Foundation Founder & Director

Valhalla High School- Christy Bisera-Morales, English & Journalism Instructor, BTSA & SAGA Advisor
