Benefits of a Night Workout

Nothing feels better than a good night sleep after a hard workout.

Not everyone is a morning person and even thinking about working out in the morning can be exhausting. Plus, it is easy to just workout right after you get off; bring your workout clothes with you as motivation to not skip the gym or aerobics class. For me, I know that if I go home after work, I am less likely to want to get up and go workout. My motivation is that I love teaching and am excited to see my students at class!

You can read multiple fitness magazines (I do) and they all have similar studies on morning vs. night workouts. Really, in the end, it depends on the person. If you are sluggish in the mornings, your workouts might also be sluggish and then you are just wasting your time. Working out in the evening can prepare you for bed. Nothing feels better than a good night sleep after a hard workout. Also, if you are feeling bad about that cupcake you ate at lunch, just knowing you are going to the gym will help you feel less guilty.

Night workouts can also help you de-stress from the day. Whether you work full time or are a stay at home mom, etc. working out can help calm you down, and yes, even relax… think Yoga. Sometimes a small break from life, like a quick 20 minute jog listening to your music, can make your day seem better.

So, get out there and find a daily routine that works for you!
