Rainy Day Workout Ideas

Workout ideas when its raining outside.

So it’s raining. Rain can put a damper on your mood and also make you more lethargic, at least for me, it does! Instead of working out, I would rather get a big blanket, eat popcorn, and watch movies all day. But, in the end, I do work out and feel so much better and refreshed afterwards (and then watch a movie).

The gym might not sound welcoming nor running in the rain. So here are a couple of alternatives to think about:

- On Demand- a lot of cable outlets now have “Fit TV” or something similar. You can checkout a variety of workout programs. Plus, you can target just the lower body or core, depending on how you feel. And choose the length of your workout

- Rent a workout video or download one. Please note, that the internet does have a lot of workouts you can do; just make sure you are choosing one that has good reviews and is safe. There’s no use to just going to YouTube and finding a workout by a random person who may not have any credentials.

- Go to the library or local bookstore and pick up a couple of fitness magazines. They have really good ideas on quick workouts you can do inside. Also, many have great healthy recipes you can use afterwards.

- Pull out the workout equipment that is hidden away. Or purchase a stability ball and weights to have handy on rainy days. Then you can watch a movie at the same time!

- Simply stretching will also have benefits. The cold can make you stiff. So take some time while watching TV or a movie and stretch those muscles.

The above ideas can be used not only on rainy days, but whenever you are short on time or just want to do something quick and not leave the comfort of your house. Also, these are a cheap and sometimes free, way of trying out new fitness routines.
