Santana National LL Claims District Championship

Four home runs account for all the SNLL runs in a 6-3 win over Rancho San Diego; Section 7 tournament begins Saturday.

The 11 and 12-year-old All-Stars didn't waste any time securing the . Three first-inning home runs helped power SNLL to a 6-3 victory over Rancho San Diego and into the Section 7 tournament, which begins Saturday.

Colton Calvert led off the game with a home run to right field, and one out later, Tristen Salinas also homered. Christian Mendez followed with a hit before Jerry Alesi stroked a two-run blast to build a 4-0 first-inning lead.

Salinas led off the third with a single and Mendez followed with the fourth SNLL home run of the game for a 6-0 advantage.

In the bottom of the third, Brock Mosier came up with Rancho San Diego's first hit, and Matt Staker followed with a two-run shot. Rancho would add a run in the fourth, but Santana's pitching staff would hold RSD in check the rest of the way.

After going unbeaten in district play, Santana National opens the Section 7 tourney Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Fletcher Hills Little League field against the District 42 champs, Park View Little League. Just two years ago, Park View made an amazing run to win the national and world Little League titles in Williamsport, PA.

The Santana Little League 10- and 11-year-old All-Stars went undefeated (6-0) as well in their tournament and are also District 41 champions! The is Saturday at 1 p.m. against the District 22 champion in Chula Vista.
