By Greg Even, Santee Lakes

WEEK OF: March 11, 2013

TROUT:

Another awesome week of Trout Fishing. Nightcrawlers and powerbait both working well.

Frank Rubalcaba from San Diego managed to haul in an 8 lb. 14 oz. Trout from lake 3 on 2 lb. line. This Trout was caught using powerbait and qualifies Frank for the April 1st TV drawing.

Richard Ouk from El Cajon caught an 8 lb. 8 oz. Trout from lake 3 on mackerel. This Trout must have been hungry. Richard also qualifies for the TV drawing.

Local angler Raymond Paul qualified for the TV drawing with his 7 lb. 15 oz. Trout from lake 4.

Mak Bailey from San Diego caught a 5 lb. Trout out of lake 3 on a nightcrawler and gets entered into the TV drawing.

Don Ferrarotti of San Ysidro caught 2 Trout out of lake 3 on powerbait and nightcrawler combo. Largest weighed 2 lbs.

BASS:

Water temps have increased to the mid to high 60’s. Numerous Bass can be spotted near beds close to shore. Reminder all Bass are catch and release. If you can’t lure the fish to bite then move on to the next one. Fines of up to $150 are being issued for fishing rule violations including fishing without a Santee Lakes permit.

CATFISH:

Ty Archer is not waiting for the Catfish Opener to start fishing for the whisker fish. Ty pulled an 8 lb. 4 oz. Catfish out of lake 1 using mackerel. Nice catch!

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 pounds catfish fillets

Directions

Heat oil in deep-fryer to 350 degrees F.

Combine cornmeal, Cajun Seasoning and salt and pepper, to taste. Dredge catfish fillets in seasoned cornmeal. Deep-fry coated pieces in batches until they are cooked through, about 10 minutes. No drop down menus, just click the header links for more options. For story categories click newsRead More and look on the left hand column. I know the redesign will take a bit to get used to, but I really think it will be a better site for community engagement, and easier to use. Feel free to post your feedback to the redesign on the boards, I'll check it out and respond, but you might also send your feedback straight to Patch headquarters with this form- http://feedback.aol.com/rs/rs.php?sid=patch Engineers will be furiously tweeking the new site based on your suggestions.

The new format from my iPad is very boring. Where are the drop down menus?

this is why the battlefield has changed temporarily from the political arena to the Energy Arena.Read More Co Gen Tricks and the usual suspects are making their big money bet on two inevitable facts that will force the hand of the CPUC and CEC to place a new gas power plant somewhere in the area. 1) the Electric Vehicle Mandate. 2) voltage support (power factor) needed by the industrial wind and solar farms in the desert. There is more to what meets the eye with the aggressive push by the usual suspects to cover our open spaces in the East County with these poorly sited RE projects. More wind and solar farms means more gas power plants. There is only one way to fight the destruction of our open spaces, and that is with roof top solar, conservation, energy efficiency and community owned energy districts. The fisrt thing that needs to be done is the City of Santee exempt residential scale PV installs from needing a building permit. Australia, Germany and the State of Vermont do not require a Building Permit to install PV.
