West Hills High School star soccer player Ariana Tran announced her college choice, Cal State Northridge, Wednesday at the San Diego Hall of Champions National Signing Day event.
Tran plays forward for the Wolf Pack girls varsity soccer team, which has a 7-10 record this season with three games left. She's scored 10 goals this season, an average of .7 a game, with a loaded schedule of honors and AP classes.
More than 100 athletes from around the county were in attendance at Wednesday’s event, sporting sweatshirts, hats, jackets and sweaters from all over the map.
Former San Diego Chargers defensive back Darren Carrington gave a short motivational speech to the kids, and told them to take advantage of this opportunity to go to college and continue their education on a free ride.
His son, Darren Carrington, Jr. a star at Horizon High School, announced that he will play football for the University of Oregon next year.
In total, there were 114 announcements for athletes in 12 different sports. Football and girls soccer led the way with 32 announcements each.
