The county of San Diego and San Diego Gas & Electric kicked off their annual Cool Zones program Thursday. The program offers public places where seniors and others can find air conditioning to beat the summer heat.
The one Cool Zone in town is at the Santee Library (9225 Carlton Hills Blvd).
More than 100 Cool Zones are available around the region, most of them are at libraries, senior centers and recreation centers.
Locations can be found online at www.coolzones.org, a page that includes a tool that can display the closest site to a particular address.
