Act Now to Save Santee From Quail Brush Power Plant!

The public would be saddled with at least $1.2 billion in construction . . .in exchange for ONLY 23 PERMANENT JOBS. . . . prevent this environmentally damaging public rip-off!

In a week (Jan. 24) the CPUC is expected to vote.  The final hearing has been delayed twice due to industry lobbying behind closed doors.

FIGHT BACK with the help of these community activists (click the links below to read how).

PRESERVE WILD SANTEE:  The final hearing for the CPUC Proposed Decision confirming that the expensive dirty gas-fired power plants (Pio Pico - Quail Brush - Escondido) are NOT needed has been delayed twice due to industry lobbying behind closed doors.

The public would be saddled with at least $1.2 billion in construction and finance costs for just Pio Pico and Quail Brush in exchange for ONLY 23 PERMANENT JOBS.   Ask Governor Brown to prevent this environmentally damaging public rip-off!

SAVE MISSION TRAILS PARK:  It Could Still Happen"... and that's why your voice is needed NOW as much as ever. Cogentrix, owner of the Quail Brush Power Plant proposed on natural lands adjacent to Mission Trails Regional Park and Santee, intensified its lobbying, asking the CPUC to "take a second look."

SIERRA CLUB: Protect California from Dirty Gas Plants!   San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) is determined to keep California shackled to dirty energy at the expense of the environment, our pocket books and our clean energy future.

Californians are working aggressively to develop our greatest clean energy resource, sunshine, and we're seeing the enormous benefits locally and across the state from it. But now San Diego Gas & Electric wants to build two new dirty gas plants in San Diego that we don't even need.

It's our community, where our families live, and it's up to us to defend our quality of life.  There isn't a minute to lose!

I hope the sheep will be content with respiratory problems, lower property values, increased chance of wild fires, etc... Remember, we were sold that the sunrise power link was the saviour for the region. If that was true, why would we need a "peaker" plant...? Oh, don't think that the "peaker plant" will only be used for that. Once online, it will be ramped up and will shut down a "dirtier" plant since this one would be newer... So that means it will be at 100%+ productivity. Imagine that beautiful monstrosity humming at max power 24/7...

TAKE A LOOK! http://www.energy.ca.gov/sitingcases/quailbrush/documents/others/comments/ Some comments to the CPUC are being emailed to the Calif Energy Commission (CEC) too! As we proved at Santee Council & SD City Hall--THE PEOPLE'S VOICE IS NEEDED FOR OUR OFFICIALS TO VOTE REASON & CONSCIENCE. Imagine the bulldozers, the blight of a power plant, the forever-changed park & the impact to we who have cherished it, the new-industrial gateway of our community and it's toxic effects on us physically and otherwise. The faraway corporation hijacks & plunders our community for profit's sake alone and at our expense--when the need is not valid, as the CPUC's proposed decision clearly states. Will our country move forward, in the arena of energy & climate change, or backward? Will Santee be a slice of the USA that demanded progress or got steamrolled by Wall Street profiteers, again? This is our town! Speak up, now is the time. Submit your comments today at ALL the links in the article above and Cc the CEC too at: docket@energy.ca.gov

Cogentrix doesn't live here why should they care about Mission Trails? There are plenty of bare rooftops all around the city that could hold a solar panel if we need energy. Quit defiling our parks and deserts with these health and habitat-ruining power plants!
