Chet F. Harritt School

<p>Chet F. Harritt Elementary School teaches Kindergarten through Eighth grade in the <a href="http://www.santeesd.net/santee/site/default.asp">Santee School District</a>. It received an Academic Performance Index score of 844 in 2009, with a statewide target of 800. It's located across from Big Rock Park.</p> <p>The school has a well-stocked library and accelerated reading program. <a href="http://www.santeesd.net/14422062114203280/site/default.asp">Parents</a> are encouraged to become involved in school activities as volunteers in the classroom, decision making groups, and to help with events.</p> <p>The school consisted of 58 percent white, three percent African American and 13 percent Hispanic students in 2008-09. Additionally, 33 percent of students were categorized as socioeconomically disadvantaged; 8 percent as English learners; 13 percent were listed as having disabilities.</p> <p>As of 2008-09 the teaching faculty included 31 full-time classroom teachers.</p>
