<p>Santana High School teaches grades nine to twelve in the <a href="http://portal.guhsd.net/GUHSD/">Grossmont Union High School District</a>. It received an Academic Performance Index score of 763 in 2009, with a statewide target of 800.</p>
<p>It offers students 78 classrooms, a library, four computer labs, AP/Honors, AVID, applied arts classes and career-focused electives such as video productions, culinary arts, introduction to engineering and web design. It also has more than 24 clubs and a music program known as "The Santana Royal Regiment." It's motto is "the home of scholars and champions."</p> <p>The school offers a huge number of athletic teams, including basketball, football, cross-country, track and field, softball, roller hockey, soccer, water polo and wrestling, as well as baseball, golf, gymnastics, softball, cheerleading, swim and dive, tennis, track and volleyball.</p> <p>Santana received national attention in 2001 due to a school shooting on its campus, in which two students were killed and 13 injured.</p> <p>As of 2008-09, the teaching faculty included 61 full-time classroom teachers. The average teacher salary was $69,856, compared with $68,475 in the district and $68,332 in the state.
