It received an Academic Performance Index score of 763 in 2009, with a statewide target of 800.</p> <p>It offers students 78 classrooms, a library, four computer labs, AP/Honors, AVID, applied arts classes and career-focused electives such as video productions, culinary arts, introduction to engineering and web design. It also has more than 24 clubs and a music program known as "The Santana Royal Regiment." It's motto is "the home of scholars and champions."</p> <p>The school offers a huge number of athletic teams, including basketball, football, cross-country, track and field, softball, roller hockey, soccer, water polo and wrestling, as well as baseball, golf, gymnastics, softball, cheerleading, swim and dive, tennis, track and volleyball.</p> <p>Santana received national attention in 2001 due to a school shooting on its campus, in which two students were killed and 13 injured.</p> <p>As of 2008-09, the teaching faculty included 61 full-time classroom teachers. The average teacher salary was $69,856, compared with $68,475 in the district and $68,332 in the state. It received an Academic Performance Index score of 774 in 2009, with a statewide target of 800.</p> <p>The 76 acre sprawling campus is adjacent to West Hills Park and Mission Trails Regional Park and is home to a bright blue football field, tennis courts, baseball fields, a 500-plus seating capacity theater and an amphitheater.</p> <p>It emphasizes an academics first culture according to the "<a href="http://wolfpack.guhsd.net/index.php/about-us/the-west-hills-way">West Hills Way</a>," and offers students a library, computer labs, AP/Honors, a music program, many clubs and more.</p> <p>School athletic teams include basketball, football, cross country, track and field, softball, roller hockey, soccer, water polo, wrestling, baseball, golf, gymnastics, cheerleading, softball, swim and dive, tennis, track and volleyball.</p> <p>As of 2008-2009 the teaching faculty included 94 full-time classroom teachers. The school consisted of 71 percent white and 12 percent Hispanic students in 2008-2009.</p>
