Health & Fitness

My wedding ring is made from a bicycle handlebar.

It really is. So you get the idea that I love bikes. My husband does too; that's partly why we own a local bike shop. It's even how we met.

As you can imagine, we own a few bikes and go on a lot of rides.

We ride mountain bikes, beach cruisers, Townie comfort bikes, E-bikes, trikes, BMX bikes and Penny Farthings. We ride locally in Santee, along the coast in San Diego, in the hills around Mission Gorge and in the mountains of our local National Forests and State Parks.

We're growing a little older, have changed our riding habits a bit, and are always looking for what is fun and functional, and most importantly, comfortable! And we love to ride with family and friends.

Whether you're an avid rider or someone who'd like to get back on a bike after many years (or maybe someone who would just like to know how to deal with all the thorns around Santee!), I hope this will be a useful blog for you!

You can learn more about Pete and me here on Santee Patch. Doug Williams wrote a great article about us On the Job (and you can learn more about the wedding ring story - though a correction is due, it was all Pete's idea).

And Dave Stall was kind enough to feature us on KUSI some months ago. We hope to do that again soon - we have a new line of bikes to rave about.

So stay tuned! I'll be posting about our most recent rides at Liberty Station and along the Embarcadero - great places to stay cool in the summer time.

And if you haven't lately, get out on a bike and ride!
