Santee Residents Head to New Jersey to Rebuild After Superstorm Sandy

Santee residents Andrea Broding, Lesley Smalley-Bradley and Steve Steinmetz are part of an inaugural crew of local volunteers helping victims of Superstorm Sandy by rebuilding and repairing homes in New Jersey. The three are volunteers with International Relief Teams, a San Diego-based nonprofit organization that assists victims of disaster, poverty and neglect in the United States and throughout the world. The team leaves this Sunday, July 21 and will spend a week in communities hardest hit by the storm that damaged more than 250,000 homes, left millions without power and was blamed for more than 200 deaths. International Relief Teams expects to send teams to the devastated area for the next two years.
