Melvin Paul DuBois, Passionate Surfer and Husband, Dies at 31

Melvin Paul DuBois, of Santee, died Nov. 16 after a long battle with Leukemia and surrounded by family and friends, according to a Dignity Memorial obituary

Born in Corpus Christi, TX, he graduated from King High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University.

He moved to San Diego in 2005 to follow his passion for surfing and moved to Ocean Beach in 2006 where he cultivated a great group of friends. Melvin met his wife, Catherine DuBois, in 2008. The couple purchased a home in Santee and adopted two cats and a German Shepherd.

In 2009 he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia and fought valiantly with chemo, bone marrow transplants and clinical trials.

His family suggests donations be made in Melvin's name to Moores Cancer Center or Patient Advocate Foundation.
