Deputies also cited two drivers for having suspended licenses.

Deputies arrested four people on suspicion of drunken driving at a Santee DUI checkpoint on the 8800 block of Mission Gorge Road on Friday night.

Another three people were arrested for undisclosed reasons, according to a San Diego County Sheriff's Department news release.

The DUI/drivers license checkpoint ran from 8 p.m. Friday to 2:30 a.m. Saturday. During that span, more than 1,200 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, with 68 heading through a secondary check. Twelve people were given field sobriety tests.

Deputies also issued seven citations. Two people were cited for having suspended licenses.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
