Four-Way Stop Signs at Jeremy St. and Ramsgate Dr. Approved for Student Safety

After receiving requests from 14 residents, the Santee City Council approved the conversion of a two-way stop sign at the intersection of Jeremy Street and Ramsgate Drive to a four-way stop sign in the interest of student safety.

City staff suggested that an all-way stop would improve the overall safety of the intersection, especially due to its proximity to Hill Creek Elementary School. The staff report said "the intersection has high usage of school age pedestrians causing significant conflict with vehicular traffic before and after school."

Council voted unanimously for the new signs, but questions were raised about the school crossing guard situation at the intersection and if any accidents had been recorded in the area. No student related accidents have been reported at the intersection and crossing guards man the intersection during busy school traffic hours.
