Love Thy Neighbor: June 28 is Lisa Hopewell Day in Santee

The Santee Food Bank celebrated its 30th anniversary Thursday evening and one of the most celebrated volunteers in the community, Lisa Hopewell, was honored by being presented a City of Santee proclamation naming June 28, 2013, as Lisa Hopewell Day in town. Earlier in the evening she was honored with the Santee Food Bank Lifetime of Service Award.

A summary of the proclamation (see full proclamation attached to this post):

Lisa Hopewell has volunteered in Santee for over 32 years for thousands of combined hours at Santee Pioneer National Little League, United Methodist Church, the Santee Food Bank and elsewhere. She spent more than ten years as admistrator or administrative assistant of the Santee Food Bank, and acted as project manager for the relocation of the food bank to a new site, Newbreak Church, in 2008.

In 2009 she was awarded Citizen of the Year by the Santee Chamber of Commerce and in 2012 she won the Wendell Cutting Humanitarian Award from the Chamber.

Her efforts have truly made a difference and she deserves to be honored as the Santee Food Banks Lifetime of Service Award recipient.
