Farmers Market Fresh: Apricots, Plums and More

Fruit of many types are in season and baby veggies are on the plate for dinner.

Samples galore of every type of summer fruit and veggie you can imagine sprawled across the in Santee Wednesday afternoon.

The shiny juicy plumbs, apricots, nectarines and donut peaches flowed from their baskets. Sweet, tart, bright and oh so delicious!

Though the were bright red and eye catching, I opted for the : the petite carrots, zucchini and yellow squash. At five dollars a pound their novelty can't be beat.

Feeling adventurous? Try the ; the pretty flower at the end of the zucchini plant, perfect stuffed with Italian herbs and cheese, and sauteed or roasted. Or, how about a beet bigger than my fist? (See the media box for a photo of that one).

On the south side of Mission Gorge east of the Town Center Mall about 2 blocks at the baseball field parking lot. You can't miss it if you are on Mission Gorge passing by. The article above says wednesdays as the day for the market.
