Farmers Market Fresh: Tijuas Mexican Food

There's a new vendor at the market and he's got some tasty Mexican fare.

This week we're featuring a relatively new vendor at the , Tijuas Mexican Food by Josue.

This is a seriously homegrown effort to bring the taste of Tijuana to Santee. The selection is basic- a chicken or beef plate. But, it's all the better bringing things back to the basics.

The chicken is billed as marinated in the adobada style, something I have never seen done before. Adobada is usually a pork dish, though after some research it seems adobada is simply Spanish for marinated. Let me just say, I loved it. The red chili and vinegar aspects of the adobada seasoning really shone through in the chicken.

The beef I didn't get to try, but Josues said it is a slightly tweaked carne asada recipe.

Both dishes come with rice, beans, guacamole, salsa, three and either two pieces of beef or three of chicken.

Josues is new to the farmers market circuit, but is enjoying cooking good food for people that previously only he and his family had access to.

Come check out Tijuas and the rest of the every Wed. from 3 to 6 p.m. (7 p.m. when it gets lighter later).
