Photos: Task Force 96 Patrols Santee Lakes With a Miniature Navy

Hobbyists set sail- and some were even decked out with Christmas lights.

A miniature remote-controlled navy known as Task force 96 took to the high seas of Santee Lakes the evening of the Holiday Lighting event.

Dozens of people, from young to old, were launching, controlling and learning about the models and how they are built.

The group of model hobbyists construct and sail 1/96 and 1/100 scale model ships of all types, focusing on U.S. Naval ships. They have met annually at the Santee Lakes for the last 18 years.
