Santee Food Bank Needs Volunteers for Stamp Out Hunger Event

If you've been meaning to volunteer, now is your chance to help some neighbors in need.

The Santee Food Bank is looking for local volunteers to help unload and sort food donated in the upcoming Stamp Out Hunger food drive.

The Stamp Out Hunger food drive is a nationwide effort that provides food to local food banks and pantries that rely heavily on donations. With more than 50 million Americans living at risk of hunger, food banks across the country continue to experience record demand for emergency food assistance.

Please meet at the Santee Food Bank (located at Newbreak Church, 8824 Cottonwood Ave) May 11 at 3 p.m. to help unload and sort food donated and brought in by the Stamp Out Hunger drive. Come for an hour or stay for more! Many hands make light work. Dinner will be served between unloading and sorting.

"I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in...Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’" -Matthew 25:35-40
