Beginning September 2, a trip from Santee to Downtown San Diego will be much quicker, no longer requiring riders to switch cars at Old Town, the Green Line will go all the way through.

This is just one change of many new and updated routes that are part of $720 million in projects that the Metropolitan Transit System is in the midst of. No new track is being laid for these changes, just a restructuring of the system to be more efficient.

With the changes, the Green Line will end near and the Gaslamp at the 12th and Imperial station, the new transfer hub where the Blue, Orange and Green Lines will meet. Any route on the Trolley will now require one transfer at most.

If you're a regular rider- heads up- most timetables will be adjusted due to the route changes.

Most routes will become more efficient. For example, the ride between Santee and Spring St. will be cut by about 10 minutes.
