You Ask, Patch Answers- Teen Pregnancy Rates in Santee
Out of all the queries we've received thus far to You Ask, this one seemed to be the biggest pickle. Yet after turning over every last rock, we found our answer.
There has been a lot of attention in the media lately surrounding teen pregnancies, and how those rates have been impacted in communities throughout the country. The local question, though, was how has Santee been affected?
Q: How many teen pregnancies have occurred in Santee within the past year?
A: After a myriad of calls to county agencies, Santee Patch was able to connect with County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency Group Communications Officer Lisa Contreras. Although medical confidentiality prevents us from knowing the exact number of pregnancies occurring in teenage girls, what the County does track is the number of births to teen moms. Unfortunately, the 2010 data is not yet available.
