Chai Waii Chinese Food Opens at Carlton Oaks Plaza, Santee's Pizza Closed

A new Chinese Food restaurant opened recently next to the Santee Library, and they offer free delivery.

About a month ago Chai Waii Chinese Food took over the storefront at Carlton Oaks Plaza that Santee's Pizza had previously inhabited.

The restaurant is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and brings Chinese Food delivery to the west side of town (free within two miles and for orders over $20). It joins four other Chinese Food restaurants in Santee, Panda Country, Red Lotus, Panda Express and Lucky Chinese fast food.

Santee's Pizza offered great New York style pizza, but folded after a couple years in business, during which time the operating hours slowly diminished to the point where you weren't sure when they'd be open.

Chai Waii was busy around lunch time when I stopped by on Thursday and reviews of the food have been mostly positive. Carlton Plaza now offers Chinese food, Mexican food, a coffeeshop, a breakfast and lunch cafe, and cupcakes in one shopping center.

They also have Boba on their menu, adding to the list of places in Santee to get the sweet treat. In addition to Boba, they have "Asian coolers" and "Asian smoothies."

The food is cooked fresh to order, not chosen buffet style like at Panda Express. They describe their cooking style on their website:
