Cheapest Gas in Town: 46 Cents More Than a Year Ago

Looking to save a few bucks this week? Why not start with the gas for your vehicle.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gas in San Diego County rose Saturday to its highest amount since Oct. 12, 2008, increasing 1 cent to $3.425.

The two stations currently selling the cheapest gas in Santee are listed below. Local prices are according to GasBuddy.com and reflect prices within the last 24 hours.

County gas price average: $3.43, +4.4 cents from last week

State average: $3.45

National average: $3.13

The eighth increase in 10 days pushed the average price 4.4 cents higher than a week ago, 7.1 cents above what is was one month ago and 46 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

"Investors anxious about the political upheaval in Egypt pushed oil and wholesale gasoline prices high at a time when they should be dropping because of healthy inventories and the upcoming end of the winter gasoline season,'' said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
