Construction Near Pep Boys Will be Car Wash, Fast Food and Office Building

The construction ongoing next to Pep Boys on Mission Gorge Road will be a car wash, fast food restaurant and office building.

Santee City Manager Keith Till confirmed that plans for the spot remain the same as discussed when the project was approved by the City Council in November 2010.

The project includes a 4,400-square-foot automated car wash, a 3,200-square-foot drive-through fast food restaurant, and a 8,800-square-foot two-story office building at 10055 Mission Gorge Rd.

The car wash will be of the fully automated kind, where you don't get out of your car- unique to Santee. The fast food outlets that were being considered at the time included Popeye's, El Pollo Loco and Sombreros- though El Pollo Loco is taking over the Burger King on Mission Gorge Road, so won't be coming to this spot.

At the time of the council meeting one homeowner criticized the project, saying there is no need for another car wash because there are two others within a quarter mile.

The project is slated to include a six-foot high wall and ten-foot vegetation buffer to minimize noise affects along west and south property lines, and the car wash will only be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with trucks allowed in and out between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Five Star Synergy, Inc., a Buena Park company, is heading the project. No construction end date or opening date for the businesses has been announced.
