Construction Near Pep Boys Will be Car Wash, Fast Food and Office Building

The work at 10055 Mission Gorge Rd. will include Santee's only fully automated car wash when completed.

The construction ongoing next to Pep Boys on Mission Gorge Road will be a car wash, fast food restaurant and office building.

Santee City Manager Keith Till confirmed that plans for the spot remain the same as discussed when the project was approved by the City Council in November 2010.

The project includes a 4,400-square-foot automated car wash, a 3,200-square-foot drive-through fast food restaurant, and a 8,800-square-foot two-story office building at 10055 Mission Gorge Rd.

The car wash will be of the fully automated kind, where you don't get out of your car- unique to Santee. The fast food outlets that were being considered at the time included Popeye's, El Pollo Loco and Sombreros- though El Pollo Loco is taking over the Burger King on Mission Gorge Road, so won't be coming to this spot.

At the time of the council meeting one homeowner criticized the project, saying there is no need for another car wash because there are two others within a quarter mile.

The project is slated to include a six-foot high wall and ten-foot vegetation buffer to minimize noise affects along west and south property lines, and the car wash will only be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with trucks allowed in and out between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Five Star Synergy, Inc., a Buena Park company, is heading the project. No construction end date or opening date for the businesses has been announced.

If we have to get another fast food restaurant I hope it's Sombreros. Although don't we already have something like 23 mexican food places in Santee? We already now have Chick fil a, KFC and I hear Pollo Loco. Hmmm...more fast food. Well it might as well be a good one!

Yeah! Another craptastic fast food joint. How many of these things do we need? Seriously, federal, state, and local governments complain about all of the obese people, yet do nothing but add fast food joints and businesses that make people have move even less, all to line their coffers with tax revenues.

I heard a man say "people in Santee like fast cars and fast food", maybe that is true.

Any carwash that takes market share from shady Kalasho is good for Santee

I think that is punishing those people who can limit themselves and enjoy a variety of fast food. I am not overweight, I take care of myself, and I enjoy the occasional burrito, hamburger, chicken sandwich, or anything else. I think we need to focus on personal responsibility so I don't have to pay for other people's health mistakes.

Two thoughts: 1) Where are the other two car washes? We need a good touchless car wash. 2) I would like to suggest a Pick-Up-Stix instead of a Popeye's - KFC is bad enough.

Seems many are missing the Big Point, one Car Wash's when not raining stay busy, and fast food restaurants are popular, and with El Cajon's rising sales tax we are getting much of their business which equals to Sales Tax Revenue for the City. Keep it coming

I can't believe that the city let them build that horrible looking building in Santee Town Center. I thought the building code stated Mediterranean style buildings for the Town Center. Even the new fast food eateries on Mission Gorge are in the right architectural style, so why are we starting to get in these hideous buildings... Buffalo Wings horrendous yellow and the similar architecture at this new place. They are an EYESORE!
