Hotel at Viejas Casino to Bring in About 400 Construction Jobs

It will bring temporary construction jobs and ongoing personnel jobs to the area.

Construction is set to begin on a 150-room hotel adjacent to the Viejas casino, which will create about 400 construction jobs, tribal officials announced today.

Construction on the hotel is set to begin the first quarter of 2012, to be completed in 2013. It will have a pool, fitness room, business center, and expansion of the Harvest Buffet, and will be situated where the Bingo Pavilion is now.

In addition to the 400 temporary construction jobs, there will also be ongoing jobs at the hotel when it opens.

"A project like this takes on added significance in a challenging economic environment, where every new job means so much to local families and the local economy," said Scott Alevy, chief executive of the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce.

"Beyond the local construction jobs, this new hotel will have a positive impact on local businesses that provide goods and services to Viejas Casino, the retail center and now the hotel," he said.
