KPBS Highlights Santee's Doctors Express in Piece on Retail Medical Clinics

With health care reform coming to fruition in 2014, retail clinics are expected to get a huge new group of clients.

KPBS recently highlighted Santee's in a radio and web piece about a recently released study by the Rand Corporation which shows a 300 percent jump in retail medical clinics between 2007 and 2009.

Retail medical clinics offer an alternative to primary care physicians, specializing in non-emergency care with no appointment necessary, and are popping up in stores like and , but independent operators like Doctors Express are becoming more common.

Doctors Express, which is situated at the intersection of Mission Gorge Road and N. Magnolia Avenue,  and owner Paul Arvanitis said he's surprised by the demand in East County- the clinic exceeded expectations for the first year.
