QA: Oggi's Nine Years of Food, Brews and Community Service in Santee

Event: All Day Happy Hour- Thanks for Voting Oggi's Santee #1 Full Service Restaurant

For nine years Oggi's Pizza & Brewing Company has been serving pizza, burgers, all sorts of entrees and appetizers and their own Oggi's brewed beers at Trolley Square in Santee.

Oggi's was recently voted "Santee's #1 Full Service Restaurant" in the Chamber of Commerce Santee's Favorite's 2012 poll. To thank voters and customers, Oggi's is celebrating with all day happy hour prices Tuesday, March 12. Oggi's in Del Mar will also honor the all day happy hour on March 12 if the customer mentions the Santee Favorites win.

In this QA, Vice President of Santee Oggi's Janis Deady thanks the customers and employees for making the restaurant such a great atmosphere:

Janis Deady: We want to thank the people who voted for Oggi’s Santee as best full service restaurant. After nine years in the community, it means so much to us that our customers still love us. We know that our amazing food, great beer and wonderful atmosphere all contribute to why people like us. However, we have to thank our employees as they are the most important part of it all. They provide the customers with the service that keeps them coming back, so we thank you!  We love the community and are still excited to find new customers coming in every day. Patch: Why did you open the restaurant in Santee?

Deady: We love the community and thought that it was a good fit.

Patch: What's your favorite thing to eat and drink at Oggi's?

Deady: I like the Oggi’s Gold and the Hefeweizen and Ryan [president of Santee and Del Mar Oggi's] likes the Oggi’s IPA. To eat it is such a toss up. The tequila pasta and the Balsamic Chicken Salad convinced us to buy the franchise.

Patch: If I'm looking for a deal, when is a good time to come to Oggi's? 

Deady: Can’t beat our lunch specials.  Served Monday through Friday 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Patch: How does Oggi's give back to the community? 

Deady: Oggi’s as a corporation is involved in a variety of caring sponsorships of which we participate. We are active with the Sportsplex in an effort to support the community athletic center.  We help conduct a variety of fundraisers such as Relay for Life, and many with Santee Santas. With Santee Santas we donated over 200 pizzas to local families in need at the holidays. 

Patch: What's the origin of the Oggi's name?   

Deady: Oggi’s is Italian for “today.”  Today is important because you come into Oggi’s and we make your food today… fresh. 90 percent of what we make is from scratch. Pizza dough made daily. House made soups and dressings as well as sauces, not just from scratch, but made to order.

Patch: Tell me about Oggi's beer, and what's the best seller?

Deady: All of the Oggi’s beers are medal winners and considered high quality, delicious, craft beers.  Many are multiple medal winners. Oggi’s Gold is the best seller. 

Patch: Do you prefer Oggi's thin or thick crust?

Deady: I like both, however, the traditional Oggi’s crust is so tasty and unique that it really is my favorite.
