Sportsplex Announces 'Boll Weevil Arena' for Indoor Soccer

One of Santee's newest restaurants sponsors local sports.

Are you ready to play soccer at Santee's new "Boll Weevil Arena"?

Sportsplex USA recently announced that the new Boll Weevil 53 Restaurant in Santee has acquired soccer arena naming rights for one of the two indoor soccer fields starting May 1 and lasting for three years.

The new restaurant, a bit different than the usual Boll Weevil, opened on April 1. The new location in Santee combines the classic Boll Weevil hamburger with one the most extensive local craft beer selections in East County.

Boll Weevil has a long history in San Diego. The first Boll Weevil was opened in 1967.  In 1989, the company began to franchise existing locations. The first franchise was opened in Ramona in 1989 and is still operated by the original owners.

The Boll Weevil 53 partners began operating Boll Weevil Restaurants in 1990 and have had continues operations to this day. They operate four restaurants, including Clairemont Mesa, Lakeside, and Imperial Beach, in addition to Santee.
