Your guide to what's open, what's closed and where to go.

This year marks the first celebration of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday since a memorial in the civil rights leader's honor was opened on the National Mall in the nation's capital.

The memorial was officially dedicated on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011 and President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, singers Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder, and others, were on hand to celebrate. The original dedication ceremony, scheduled for August 2011, was pushed back because of Hurricane Irene.
