Chappie Hunter, a 20-year San Diego Police veteran who lost his leg in a motorcycle accident just months ago, left audiences in awe and inspired at the East County Live Well Expo in Santee over the weekend.

After being released from the hospital (he said he refused a wheelchair and "hopped" out of the hospital), he didn't let his injuries stop him. He has been doing Crossfit workouts for some time, and just weeks after the accident, he was back doing the same, intense workouts he was doing before. These workouts are tough enough with the use of the entire body, but he does them with one leg.

Friday he spoke about the accident and aftermath as the crowd watched with mouths agape a video of him performing an intense full-body Crossfit work out just weeks after losing his leg.

"Hopefully this video inspires you to do one or two push ups," he said.

Saturday he demonstrated his perseverance to keep physically fit by doing a variety of Crossfit exercises and on Sunday he took part in the Challenged Athlete Triathlon.

"Chappie is living proof of what determination and a positive mental attitude can do," said expo organizer and California Health Network Executive Director Steve Lauria. "He is truly an inspiration!"
