Local Christmas Light Displays

It's the Holiday Season and there are PLENTY of light displays to see...and neighborhoods that light up magically and attract people from afar to see the amazing homes! Find out where!

For those who somehow have missed it- there are two very beautiful neighborhoods around town to see lights and decorations.  ( in Santee and Pepper Drive in El Cajon).

There is also an amazing just up the freeway in Poway.  Over the years I have shared this information with friends and they always come back amazed.  So I thought I would share it here.

The Poway light display is very similar to Starlight Circle in that it is several cul-de-sacs and there are often tables selling hot chocolate and other snacks, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.  Also on the weekends especially as we approach Christmas you will often find one home which has a karaoke system full of Christmas songs for the children to come up and sing with the words illuminated onto the garage for all others to see and sing along.  You also never know when the jolly old man in red will show up!!  Most people choose to walk through it (which I recommend) but people also drive through as well.

What stands out about this neighborhood is the AMOUNT of lights used.  You think Starlight Circle uses alot of lights?  Many of the homes in this neighborhood have not left an inch of their house or yard uncovered!

To get there:

67 North to SCRIPPS POWAY PARKWAY  --TURN LEFT (This avoids all the lights and traffic on Poway Road from the 67)

Drive to COMMUNITY ROAD  --TURN RIGHT

Drive to POWAY ROAD   --TURN LEFT

Drive to CARRIAGE   --TURN RIGHT  (This is a light...and is just past the Poway Bowl on the left side)

Drive to SADDLEWOOD   --TURN LEFT

Park anywhere in that area.  You will see the traffic and all the lights beginning on the first street on your left HICKORY STREET.

I have attached a few pictures from this neighborhood to give you an idea of what you will see there.

For those who have already walked through Starlight Circle and driven through Pepper Drive...I highly recommend a trip to the Poway lights!

If you haven't taken the time to visit any of these mentioned light displays....you are truly missing out!  Take a walk through the Starlight Circle neighborhood located off Magnolia just past .  You can walk or drive through.  I would suggest walking..though you may have to park down the street in order to walk through.

With it's hills and traffic, Pepper Drive is probably best viewed by driving through.  But take note--this is a very popular neighborhood so be prepared for the traffic.

If you know of another neighborhood full of lights... or an amazing home to see.... share it here for everyone else!!

Happy Holidays!!

No drop down menus, just click the header links for more options. For story categories click newsRead More and look on the left hand column. I know the redesign will take a bit to get used to, but I really think it will be a better site for community engagement, and easier to use. Feel free to post your feedback to the redesign on the boards, I'll check it out and respond, but you might also send your feedback straight to Patch headquarters with this form- http://feedback.aol.com/rs/rs.php?sid=patch Engineers will be furiously tweeking the new site based on your suggestions.

this is why the battlefield has changed temporarily from the political arena to the Energy Arena.Read More Co Gen Tricks and the usual suspects are making their big money bet on two inevitable facts that will force the hand of the CPUC and CEC to place a new gas power plant somewhere in the area. 1) the Electric Vehicle Mandate. 2) voltage support (power factor) needed by the industrial wind and solar farms in the desert. There is more to what meets the eye with the aggressive push by the usual suspects to cover our open spaces in the East County with these poorly sited RE projects. More wind and solar farms means more gas power plants. There is only one way to fight the destruction of our open spaces, and that is with roof top solar, conservation, energy efficiency and community owned energy districts. The fisrt thing that needs to be done is the City of Santee exempt residential scale PV installs from needing a building permit. Australia, Germany and the State of Vermont do not require a Building Permit to install PV.
