Leslie William Newman, 68, Dog and Car Enthusiast, Dies

The retiree once served in the Navy.

Leslie William Newman, known as Bill to friends, died July 5 at his Santee home, according to the Brown County Democrat in Indiana. He was 68.

The Navy veteran so enjoyed cars he would bring engines into his home and work on them on his dining room table. He also volunteered for Greyhound rescue organizations.

He was a native of Norfolk, Va., and was retired, but worked part-time driving for an auto parts dealer, the report said.

He is survived by two sisters.
