Mast Blvd

I sent the following to Jack Dale.  In direct response to his Turko files comments...

Your explanation regarding the completion of Mast Blvd is entirely unacceptable and almost insulting to both the residents of Lakeside and Santee.  I can remember when you made your statement about the completion of 52 in relation to Mast Blvd. So I will call you dishonest every chance I get, to anyone who will listen, and I would say it to your face.

In your response to Mr. Turko it seems clear you have NO desire to promote safe passage to and from your once fair city.  I am quite sure that voters in your city are negatively impacted daily by this fiasco.  I really would like to see you personally tell the family members whose loved ones have been killed on the deadly curve that it was both too expensive and not good for your city to make a safer road. Every accident and every death now lie directly on your shoulders Sir.  You seem very proud of your stance when in my opinion your should hang your head in shame.

I feel you have a responsibility as a community leader to LEAD and follow through on something so basic as a straight road.  Santee is a wonderful place to visit and shop.  I know my family and friends all enjoy the stores and restaurants there.  Yes, we are Lakeside residents and we shop in Santee.  Your statements make me and my family want to start a boycott of Santee businesses.  You sound like you don't want outsiders in your city so I would be happy to go elsewhere.  (Home Depot, Olive Garden, Hometown Buffet, Kohls, Lowes, Petco...ect...ect..All these places are close $100 a pop every time we walk in, and they have convenient locations that are not in your city.)  I'm sure Santee enjoys all the tax money they get from Lakeside residents shopping and attending the local schools.  But God forbid you fix (arguably) one of most dangerous roads in east county to provide those same shoppers and students with safe access.  I know there are other ways in and out, but you and I both know people like to take the most direct route to where they are going.  I challenge your statement about increasing the traffic on Mast I believe you already have all that traffic anyway just channeled on other surface streets.

The expense that goes into responding to accidents on El Nopal plus the costs to SDG&E factored in, along with the cost of human life makes the completion of Mast Blvd a clear priority.  I would like to quote Thomas Jefferson ...... “The purpose of government is to enable the people of a nation to live in safety and happiness. Government exists for the interests of the governed, not for the governors.”
I wonder to myself if there is someone backing you who desperately wants to block this extension.  So what is your personal interest in this matter?

In closing I would like you to consider the children who are forced to take this very dangerous route to and from school.  Their only 'crime', if you will, is being unfortunate enough to live in Lakeside but due to school lines are require to attend school in Santee.  Your stance sounds like you could care less about their safety.  One could even infer that you said "That's not my problem, its a county issue."  Don't you work for the county too?  At what point does it become your problem?  It was YOUR non-promise that landed us here.  Let us pray together that a child does not die due your stated position that you do not support opening Mast Blvd.  I would not want that on my conscience.

I hope this actually gets to Jack Dale.  I understand he might not like hearing from a Lakeside guy.
