1 Arrest Logged at DUI Checkpoint Late Friday Night in Santee

More than 660 vehicles were stopped for inspection by 3 a.m. Saturday, authorities reported.

One arrest was made at a DUI checkpoint Friday night through 3 a.m. Saturday in Santee, according to a Sheriff’s Department release.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Hill said 664 vehicles were stopped, leading to secondary inspections of 21 cars.

Five sobriety tests were given, Hill said, but nobody was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Four people were cited for driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, and three were cited for not having a driver’s license on them, Hill said.

Four vehicles were seized for storage at the checkpoint, whose location wasn’t specified in the news release.

The DUI checkpoint, which began at 8 p.m., was courtesy of  a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety. The single arrest was not specified for offense.
