No One Injured in Small Plane's Hard Landing at Gillespie Field

The landing gear on the twin-engine airplane appears to have failed, a fire dispatcher said.

People inside a small airplane escaped injury Thursday after they experienced a hard landing at Gillespie Field in El Cajon.

A Heartland Fire dispatcher said it appears the landing gear malfunctioned, causing the nose of the twin-engine aircraft hit the runway.

The Lakeside Fire District sent a Nixle alert at 4:24 p.m. Thursday that said they were assisting with the Gillispie Field incident.
