DUI Checkpoint on Mission Gorge Road Nets One DUI Arrest

Four people are arrested on charges other than DUI at the checkpoint Friday night.

operated by sheriff’s deputies at 8800 Mission Gorge Road Friday night resulted in one driver being arrested for suspicion of DUI and four other people arrested on other charges, according to a sheriff’s dispatcher. The non-DUI charges were not available.

The checkpoint began at 9:16 p.m. and wrapped up at 1:50 a.m. Of the 569 vehicles that encountered the checkpoint, 549 were contacted and 59 were sent to a secondary area for further inspection, according to the dispatcher. Seven vehicles were towed and 44 citations were issued.

The checkpoint was a part of the Drunk Driving: Over the Limit, Under Arrest campaign, and was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
