Family of Four Escapes Santee Duplex Fire Unscathed

A fire in the middle of the night was quickly put down without injury.

A Santee duplex caught fire early Friday morning, apparently due to a malfunctioning ceiling fan.

The family made it safely out of the home at 9465 Pryor Drive. No injuries were reported, but the inside of the house is ruined, according to reports.

CW 6 reported that the family, a mother, father, their 2-year-old son and a grandparent were displaced.

The pegs the damage estimate at $50,000.

The cause was thought to be the bathroom ceiling fan, but is still under investigation.
