Garage Fire Near Santee/Lakeside Border Quickly Put Out

Fire Marshall suggests some safety tips for avoiding these kinds of house fires.

A garage fire broke out Tuesday afternoon at 9117 Fonteyn Court, near the Santee/Lakeside border, and was quickly put out with no damage to surrounding homes, according to the .

The fire was reported at 2:08 p.m. and put out by 2:20, according to firefighters on scene. It was contained to the garage and there was minimal smoke damage to the rest of the house.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. Sheriff's investigators were on scene late in the afternoon, along with about about ten Santee firefighters helping to clean out the garage and secure the house.

The Santee Fire Marshal was on hand overlooking cleanup and offered for safeguarding against house fires such as this one:
