A preliminary hearing was rescheduled Tuesday to Jan. 4 for a man accused in a spree of daytime residential burglaries in an East County neighborhood.
Shane Michael Greisofe, 25, pleaded not guilty Dec. 7 to one count each of felony residential burglary, felony grand theft and misdemeanor vandalism. He is charged in a separate case with possession of a controlled substance.
Greisofe was arrested shortly before 11 a.m. Dec. 5 outside an El Cajon gas station in the 700 block of Mollison Avenue, San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. Tom Poulin said.
The defendant is suspected in at least a dozen "brazen" break-ins at homes in the unincorporated East Los Coches area near Lakeside in the last three months, according to Poulin. All the crimes occurred during the morning or early afternoon hours.
If convicted, Greisofe faces up to seven years and eight months in prison, said Deputy District Attorney Shanish Aloor.
