Help ID Couple Who Stole Package From Santee Doorstep

The incident was recorded Friday afternoon on Abbeyfield Road, in the Carlton Oaks area.

Two people were caught on tape Friday taking a recently delivered package from the doorstep of a home in Santee.

The incident was recorded Friday afternoon on Abbeyfield Road, in the Carlton Oaks area. The front of the home was watched by three surveillance cameras that filmed a caucasian male and female from the same vehicle separately walk up to the doorstep and take one package. The cameras caught a shot of the car, which looks like a silver hatchback, similar to a Hyundai Accent. See video here.

The victim, April Merritt, described the theft:

"The mailman dropped off the stuff about 2:45 p.m. and the couple picked them up about 15 mins later. Maybe they were watching the mailman? Also, the mailman told us of problems like this in the houses south of our neighborhood and that he will no longer leave packages at people’s front door. I’ve only talked to a few neighbors and they haven’t had any problems..."

The incident was reported to the post office and Sheriff's Department, according to Merritt.
