iPods Stolen by Eraser Swap, Suspect Arrested at the Border

One theft took place at the Santee Target store.

A man was arrested at the San Ysidro border Wednesday on suspicion of stealing iPods from Target Stores by removing them from the package and replacing the devices with an eraser of similar weight to disguise the theft.

Gian Ericson De Los Reyes, 26, was arrested as a suspect in two counts of commercial burglary while crossing the border into the United States on Wednesday, said Sheriff's Sergeant Scott Enyeart.

Eight iPods were stolen from Target stores in Santee, Poway, Lemon Grove, Chula Vista, Escondido and San Diego, according to Enyeart.

De Los Reyes was booked into San Diego Central Jail with bail set at $50,000.
