Lakeside Warrant Served; Not SWAT Standoff

A large party of Sheriff's Department personnel serving a warrant at a remote Lakeside residence is mistaken for a SWAT standoff.

The reported it received inquiries about a supposed SWAT standoff in Lakeside on Wednesday morning, which they said was not a SWAT standoff, but sheriff’s deputies serving a warrant as a follow-up in a drug case.

Santee sheriff's investigators and members of the Special Enforcement Detail served the search warrant at a parcel near Foster Truck Trail and state Route 67 in Lakeside, the residence of Jacob Pitman, according to authorities.

Pitman was charged with cultivation of marijuana and committing a felony while armed with a firearm.

"The Special Enforcement Detail was utilized due to the remoteness of the location, and the large size of the parcel to be searched," according to a Sheriff's Department press release.

The Sheriff's Department said the warrant was served and the search conducted without incident.
