Local Firefighter Lost in Car Accident
A private memorial is being held for Lakeside resident and firefighter Colby Shigley.
Local CAL FIRE firefighter and active reserve Marine, Colby Shigley, was recently killed in a vehicle collision in Munro Township, Michigan.
Shigley, a Lakeside resident, had served in Iraq and had been with CAL FIRE since 2003 and leaves behind a wife and three young children.
Early reports that the July 8 accident may have involved alcohol and speed have not been confirmed by investigators, according to CAL FIRE.

A private memorial will be held Thursday. Donations can be made to the Firefighter Colby Shigley Memorial Fund at in Santee.
