Man Dies After Being Struck by SUV Near Parkway Plaza
The pedestrian was hit Monday and succumbed to his injuries.
A 62-year-old man died in a hospital Tuesday of injuries he suffered when an SUV struck him as he jaywalked near Westfield Parkway Plaza mall.
The pedestrian, dressed in dark clothing and carrying bags and suitcases, was traversing the 500 block of Fletcher Parkway in El Cajon when the Nissan Armada hit him about 9:30 p.m. Monday, according to police.
A sign posted nearby warns against crossing the thoroughfare on foot in the area, Lt. Frank La Haye said.

Medics took the man to a trauma center, where he succumbed to his injuries this morning. His name was withheld pending family notification.
The driver of the SUV immediately pulled over following the accident was cooperating with traffic investigators, La Haye said. Neither speeding nor intoxication appeared to be a factor in the fatality, the lieutenant said.
