Santee Murder Suspect Arraignment Delayed

The suspect's arraignment had been scheduled for this afternoon but was postponed due to a jail medical hold.

Update with more details:

A 64-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murdering a female acquaintance at a home in Santee was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon at the El Cajon courthouse, but will now be postponed due to a jail medical hold, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Deputies went to the residence in the 10500 block of Strathmore Drive about 9:45 p.m. Sunday in response to a report that a disturbance and possibly a death had occurred there, according to San Diego County sheriff's Capt. Duncan Fraser.

They found Paul Carl Tomasini of Santee outside, suffering from apparent stab wounds. The woman's body was inside the house, according to the captain.

Medics took Tomasini to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. After questioning him, detectives arrested him on suspicion of murder and had him placed under guard at the trauma center pending his recovery and transfer to jail.

Authorities advanced no theory on motive and did not say how Tomasini was wounded. The suspect and the deceased woman were acquaintances, according to Fraser, who declined to provide details on the nature of the relationship.
