Santee Woman Found Safe After Going Missing

A woman who was recently reported missing has returned home safe, sheriff's officials and family tell Santee Patch.

You may have seen the above flier posted around town in the last few days. That's because thousands of them were plastered throughout Santee, La Mesa, Lemon Grove and surrounding communities, as family members hoped someone would recognize their loved one and help get her home safe.

Those efforts apparently paid off, as 23-year-old Stephanie Lee returned to her Santee home Sunday night, after having been missing since Tuesday, April 2, according to Santee Sheriff's Sgt. Goldberg.

Until Sunday, her last known location was at the Walgreens on Broadway in Lemon Grove, he confirmed.

Lee's father, Kimo Lee, tells Patch that he and several of his daughter's friends and family members put up more than 4,000 fliers in the East County area in hopes someone would recognize her.

He said he got multiple calls from people who thought they had seen her, and ultimately found her Sunday evening.

Further details about the case couldn't be disclosed, he said, as it's still under investigation since he says she was abducted.  Sheriff's officials were scheduled to take a detailed report Monday evening, he told Patch.

Sheriff's officials told Patch that they knew Lee had returned home safe, but had yet to start an abduction investigation as of Monday afternoon.
